Overland Park Chamber of Commerce
Economic Development Council
Launches New Web Site

Overland Park Chamber of Commerce – July 18, 2007 – A new Web site launched today by the Overland Park Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Council (OPEDC) is designed to convince developers, site selectors and business executives that Overland Park is the leading suburban business community in the Midwest. The new site can be found at www.opedc.org.

The site touts Overland Park’s high rankings on numerous national lists for business, education and quality of life, its abundance of prime office space, and its role as headquarters or home to major companies such as Sprint/Nextel, Embarq, YRC Worldwide, and Quintiles. Viewers will learn that Overland Park is one of 12 cities AAA Bond-rated by Moody’s, Standard & Poor’s and Fitch, that it has the highest percentage of high school graduate residents in the United States, it has one of the nation’s lowest tax climates, and it boasts three of the highest-ranked school districts in the country.

The new Web site will allow OPEDC officials to better promote Overland Park as a prime location for business expansion or residential relocation. It is part of a campaign that also includes a new marketing brochure.

“A quality Web site is an essential tool in today’s business environment,” explained Gary Sherrer, Senior Vice President of Economic Development for the OPEDC. “It must combine important information, ease of access and a professional look. We believe our new Web site does just that.”

Sherrer, along with Andrew Nave, CEcD, Business Recruitment and Retention Manager, regularly attend national trade shows to attract business and economic growth in Overland Park.

Information on the site includes site selection services, major industries and companies, quality of life factors, leading business parks and available property, and a community profile. An interactive map allows viewers to modify maps to highlight highways, business parks, largest employers, and colleges and universities.

The Overland Park Economic Development Council (OPEDC) was established in 1989 to attract, expand and retain the Overland Park business base. The program is an investment partnership among the City of Overland Park, the Overland Park Chamber of Commerce and more than 65 private business community investors.
