Hospitals
As part of a major metropolitan area, Overland Park gives residents access to a full range of health services within a short distance of their homes. All of the area hospitals have full-staffed, 24-hour emergency centers and provide a variety of specialized programs, including wellness and community education classes.
Two health care centers affiliated with St. Luke's Health System and Shawnee Mission Medical Center are set up in Overland Park shopping malls. These facilities, which are staffed by physicians, provide non-trauma health care services. Caring for the mental well-being of Overland Park residents are the Johnson County Mental Health Center and Johnson County Developmental Supports.
Emergency Medical Treatment
Med-Act, an emergency service unit with trained paramedics, is operated by the county. Nine units serve the Johnson County area.
