Allied National Announces Relocation to Overland Park
Overland Park Chamber of Commerce – September 21, 2007 – Allied National, one of the nation’s oldest and most respected administrators of small employer benefit plans, announced plans this morning to locate its headquarters in Overland Park, Ks.
Allied is purchasing property at 4551 W. 107th, recognized by many as the headquarters of Applebee’s. Company officials say they will immediately occupy half of the building and plan to invest over $12 million to acquire and refurbish the 83,289-square-foot building.
"We are excited to be moving to Overland Park,” said William A. Ashley, CEO of Allied National. “We want to grow our company and felt that the Applebee’s building provided the best opportunity. We are grateful to the Kansas Department of Commerce, the Overland Park Chamber of Commerce and the City of Overland Park for their assistance in the search for a new headquarters building.”
The company is bringing a $4.9 million payroll to Overland Park with 98 employees earning an average salary of $50,000. By 2010, Allied National plans to add 10 employees with an average salary of $56,666, bringing the total payroll to almost $5.5 million.
“Overland Park welcomes Allied National,” said Mayor Carl Gerlach. “Besides bringing a strong history of commitment and value to Overland Park, Allied National will have a positive economic impact on our community. We look forward to working with Allied National.”
“We are excited to welcome Allied National to Kansas,” said Kansas Department of Commerce Secretary David Kerr. “Allied is one of the oldest and most trusted insurance benefit plan administrators in the country, and we are honored that the company has chosen to move its headquarters to Kansas.”
Allied is a family-owned company dating back to 1951. It was established as a life insurance brokerage agency, but soon expanded into a life, accident and health brokerage specializing in sub-standard risk. In 1970, with the development of Allied’s Multiple Employer Trust – one of the first in the country – the agency became an administrator as well. Throughout its history, Allied has remained steadfast in its focus on high-quality products and its commitment to value. In 1993, Allied National incorporated and today remains privately held and run by a well-seasoned management team.
